At the end of September 2026 the share was 7.3%, 3.6 percentage points higher than a year earlier. It is the highest share since the series began in 2019, in Indeed's current data.
Does this mean these are AI jobs?
No. A posting counts if it mentions any AI-related term anywhere in its text. Many mentions give little detail on how AI would be used, and a posting is an advertisement, not a hire. The share alone does not show whether AI is creating or cutting jobs.
Why do other sources report a different share?
Other producers use other definitions. The Stanford AI Index figure from Lightcast, for example, counts postings that require at least one AI skill across Lightcast's own database and is reported once a year. Indeed's tracker counts any AI mention on Indeed's US site.
