A HUD-approved housing counselor can help you review your mortgage options for free. Choose your counselor first. Find a HUD-approved agency. HomeBase does not verify the recipient’s counselor credentials or act as your counselor.

The named recipient needs a separate, verified HomeBase account at the email you enter. Forwarding a link does not give someone else access. No invitation email is sent by this page; after saving, you can open an email draft and send the link yourself.

1. Review the package you will share

Prepare and download the application ZIP below, then open it and check the application, hardship letter, originals, index, signatures and missing items. The shareable ZIP must be below 20 MB. Sharing uses this snapshot; later changes to HomeBase do not update it. The separately saved SSN and counselor intake are excluded. Original uploads can contain sensitive information: check the included files before sharing.

2. Name the counselor and choose permissions

A counselor who downloads your file keeps that copy. HUD requires counselors to keep their client files. Stopping sharing ends their access to HomeBase; it doesn't delete a copy they already have. HUD client-file requirements (§5-4)
